Iran condemns terrorist attack in Kabul

The Iranian foreign ministry deplored the Sunday suicide attack in Afghanistan's capital city of Kabul which killed and wounded tens of innocent people, calling it a "criminal and inhumane" move.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The Iranian foreign ministry deplored the Sunday suicide attack in Afghanistan's capital city of Kabul which killed and wounded tens of innocent people, calling it a "criminal and inhumane" move.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi extended his condolences to the Afghan people and government, specially the bereaved families of the victims.

"We hope to witness eradication of terrorism in all its dimensions and forms in the region and the world as a result of a common resolve and efforts at all bilateral, regional and international levels," he said.

A suicide blast killed 31 people and wounded dozens more Sunday at a voter registration center in Kabul, Afghan officials said.

In addition to the fatalities, at least 54 others were injured, public health spokesman Wahid Majroh said.

The bomber was on foot when he detonated his explosives at the gate of the building about 10 a.m. local time, Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danish said.

ISIS terrorist group claimed responsibility for the bombing.

Registration for October's parliamentary and district council elections in Afghanistan opened April 14.
